Never. Say. Die 😤 @EmmaRaducanu fights back from a set down for the second time this weekend to send Great Britain to the #BJKCup Finals! 🇬🇧 @the_LTA
Emma Raducanu made her first Billie Jean King Cup appearance since 2022 and has anchored Great Britain through to the Finals which will take place in November in Seville after a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 win over Diane Parry on Saturday.
Raducanu who saw off Caroline Garcia yesterday for one of her best wins ever on clay was under the cosh and initially spurned opportunities to win it prior to a revival from Parry to force a tie-break. But Great Britain take it 3-1 over France after Katie Boulter secured victory earlier today. She defeated Clara Burel 7-5, 6-0 after her initial poor loss to Parry yesterday.
Parry sealed the opening set 6-4 to cast doubt especially after Raducanu's excellent opening display yesterday. She broke at 2-0, but Raducanu broke back. Parry though after Raducanu missed a chance to go 5-4 up held and then broke to seal the set. But back came the former US Open champion as she breezed through the second rampantly 6-1. She sealed three out of four breaks of serve in the set on Parry's serve and looked to be heading towards the win.
Even more so going 4-1 and 5-2 up on the Frenchwoman, but she missed two match points as Parry cut the deficit down to 5-4 and then was 40-15 up on Raducanu's serve who had to dig deep to recover and go 6-5 up. A tie-break was forced from there and it was rampant from Raducanu who won it 7-1 to claim the win. After being out of the team for some time, Raducanu proved her weight in gold.
