As teams are set for the
Billie Jean King Cup Finals which will take place in November,
Emma Raducanu has been afforded a spot in the line-up for the Great Britain team.
There were concerns that Raducanu wouldn't bother playing due to her own scheduling being very much low impact and trying not to put too much strain on herself. Anne Keothavong who is team captain for Great Britain also said of Raducanu that she needs to work 'one hell of a lot harder' on Sky Sports in April.
She said this after Raducanu was dumped out of the Madrid Open by Maria Lourdes Carle. But of course this was unlikely to discern her from being picked for the national side. She is part of a full strength line-up which also includes Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart.
Raducanu's inclusion is important though. She was the best player in their superb win over France in April. She sealed two tight singles victories as Great Britain qualified for the season ender which was won by Canada last year for the first time since the 1990's.
"We are really looking forward to the Finals in Malaga after qualifying following our fantastic weekend in France in April. Our team have created excellent memories over the last couple of years and will relish the opportunity in November," said Keothavong.
“There is still a lot of tennis to be played and changes can be made up until the day before our first match.” They begin their campaign with the first tie on November 15 against Germany.
