After failing to replicate her 2021
US Open dream run,
Emma Raducanu appears ready to return to action on the WTA circuit as the 2024 season comes to an end.
The British star fell in the opening round in New York to 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, continuing her drought of not having won a match at Flushing Meadows since she lifted the title there three years ago. The 21-year old had little match play in the four weeks leading up to the final Grand Slam of the season, and later admitted she would have liked to play more before the prestigious event.
What's next for Raducanu?
Although the former World No.10 has not had much match play recently, she is set to be busy over the next few months. Raducanu will make her return to the court at the WTA 500
Korea Open in Seoul which starts on September 16, a tournament where she made the semifinals in 2022.
The Brit is then set to play at the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing, which starts on September 25. Following Beijing, Raducanu might then play the WTA 1000 Wuhan Open, which gets under way on October 7. Should she opt out of the event, then she is scheduled to play in the Hong Kong Open, taking place from October 28. This tournament will likely mark the end of the season for Raducanu, who will then begin her preparations for the 2025 Australian Open.
