Former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard will return to the Roland Garros spotlight this month, this time as part of TNT Sports’ broadcast team following her retirement from professional tennis last year.
The Canadian headlines a star-heavy lineup confirmed by the broadcaster for coverage of the French Open across the UK, United States and Europe, joining established names such as John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams.
Bouchard’s arrival marks another step in her transition away from full-time competition after a career that included a Wimbledon final, a semi-final run at Roland Garros and a rise to World No. 5 during the peak of the 2014 season. While injuries limited her consistency in later years, she remained one of the most recognisable figures of her generation.
Roland Garros qualifying is set to begin in late May before the main draw starts in Paris days later, with the clay-court major once again expected to dominate the tennis calendar. The defending men’s and women’s singles champions will return under pressure in one of the sport’s most demanding Grand Slam environments.

Bouchard begins new broadcasting chapter after retirement

Bouchard joins TNT Sports for the first time after officially stepping away from professional tennis last season. The move places her among a growing list of recently retired players shifting into television and digital analysis roles around major tournaments.
The former Canadian No. 1 built one of the most high-profile careers in women’s tennis during the mid-2010s, highlighted by her run to the Wimbledon final and semi-finals at both the Australian Open and Roland Garros in 2014. Her aggressive baseline game and rapid rise made her one of the central faces of the WTA Tour during that period.
Now, her role changes from player to analyst, with TNT Sports positioning her alongside several former Grand Slam champions and established commentators throughout the Paris fortnight.

McEnroe, Agassi and Venus Williams headline TNT Sports lineup

John McEnroe will continue as one of the lead analysts for the broadcaster, while Andre Agassi is expected to return for coverage during the semi-finals and finals after joining the network last year.
The broader team also includes Lindsay Davenport, Caroline Wozniacki, Chris Eubanks, Sloane Stephens, CoCo Vandeweghe, Sam Querrey and Mary Joe Fernandez.

Former World No. 8 John Isner is also set to contribute during the tournament with analysis shaped by his recent ATP Tour experience. He will 'make appearances throughout the tournament, offering real-time analysis shaped by his recent experience competing at the highest level.'"
Venus Williams is also expected to feature prominently from the quarter-final stage onwards after debuting with the broadcaster during last year’s French Open coverage.

Roland Garros approaches as Williams weighs playing future

Despite her broadcasting commitments, Venus Williams has not fully closed the door on returning to competition. The seven-time Grand Slam champion recently addressed her clay-court plans while speaking during the Madrid Open.
Williams admitted she would miss Rome due to outside commitments, while also expressing disappointment about being unable to continue her preparation on clay ahead of Roland Garros.
"I mean, to get my feet dirty, this was a great start. I'm not able to play Rome, I have other commitments, unfortunately, so I'm really super sad about that, actually,” the former world No. 1 said. “My husband is Italian, so we feel sad that we can't be there. So we would love to keep it going on the clay."
It remains unclear whether Williams will receive a wildcard into the French Open main draw, though TNT Sports confirmed she is expected in Paris regardless for studio appearances during the latter stages of the tournament.
