Russia’s young and upcoming tennis star
Mirra Andreeva has stated
that she is not trying to think too much about what went wrong during the World
Tennis League.
The 16-year-old is currently taking part in the competition
where she was included after Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic decided to withdraw from
the tournament. Andreeva teamed up with America’s Sofia Kenin as the two
secured some crucial wins.
Talking about how it was playing in such a big event, Andreeva
stated that she is just focusing on enjoying the event and spending time with
some of the big names in the competition instead of thinking about mistakes as
some of the best in business also had some off days.
“After the double fault, I thought it’s over, but we
challenged and it was in, so we were very happy,” she said. “Sometimes I get
upset when somethings don’t go my way. I think about those mistakes and it’s
all the heavy thoughts in my head. Now I’m trying now to just let it go. if I
miss its okay, even Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal also miss. So just let it go.
“When they first told me that that I’m going to be a
replacement in the WTL, I was wondering who’s going to pull out from this
tournament? But Belinda Bencic pulled out and I got a chance to play. I was
super happy that I will be playing with Andrey, Daniil and Sophia. I didn’t
really know them well but I am just enjoying being around them as it’s my first
big exhibition tournament.”
