American tennis star
Coco Gauff has experienced a meteoric rise on the WTA circuit, which saw her reach her maiden Grand Slam quarterfinals at the
French Open earlier this year.
While participating at an exhibition match in Washington last week, the 17-year old was asked if there was a male player with which she would like to play doubles. To everyone's surprise, she named Aussie
Nick Kyrgios. Upon learning of this, Kyrgios suggested they team up at the
Australian Open, to which Gauff replied with "let's make it happen."
Upon further questioning, Gauff added that her dream mixed doubles partners would be Kyrgios and none other than Swiss legend
Roger Federer.
"My agent sent me his tweet, where he asked me about mixed doubles,” Gauff said. “People don’t know this but Nick and Roger are literally my dream mixed doubles partners. Hopefully we can make it happen.”
Although there hasn't been any official announcement regarding Gauff's partnership with Kyrgios, the WTA World No.24 believes they could be an entertaining duo.
"We haven’t really talked about it other than on social media," revealed Gauff. "Obviously Australia is far, far away from now. That’s gonna be his home court. The crowds gonna be behind this.”
