Simona Halep needed a big come back to defeat Barbora Krejcikova in the second round of the Prague Open and advance to the quarterfinals.
The 28-years-old Romanian is probably the biggest favorite to win the
Prague Open. Simona Halep came to the Czech Republic to play the first tournament after more than 5 months, and as the first-seeded player, she is getting closer to the title every day.
After
defeating Polona Hercog in the first round, she faced Barbora Krejcikova in the second. She defeated her back in 2016 in the first round in Bucharest after losing the first set as the first-seeded player of the tournament.
Their second match was almost identical. Halep was the first-seeded, it was an early stage of the tournament, and one of the players was playing on the home soil, but this time it was Krejcikov who had an advantage.
And despite the conditions seemed to be a bit better for the Czech this time, the history repeated itself. Krejcikova won the first set 6-3 and was 2 games away from winning the match in the second. However, Halep showed her extra class and won the match 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Prague Open. There, she will meet Magdalena Frech who defeated Arantxa Rus in three sets earlier today.
