Two finals and two defeats for
Coco Gauff this weekend as
Kristina Mladenovic and
Caroline Garcia sealed the Women's Doubles title on home soil at
Roland Garros.
Garcia and Mladenovic outlasted Gauff and
Jessica Pegula in a 2-5, 6-3, 6-2 win to add to their 2016 triumph in 1 hour and 44 minutes. It also adds a four for Mladenovic who won twice with Timea Babos back in 2019 and 2020.
After getting swept in the opening set, they took charge in the second set breaking the Pegula serve for 5-3 before Garcia served it out to level up.
In the opening game of the the third set saw Garcia break the Gauff serve and they raced away to 4-0 from there and although they let initial match points slip away, they didn't spurn the third opportunity as Garcia wrapped it up.
