Emma Raducanu will play at the
Indian Wells Masters without a coach as the British player is in no rush to appoint a new coach.
Emma Raducanu arrived in the desert without a coach as she prepares to return to tennis at the Indian Wells Masters. The decision to part ways with her coach was a surprising one too many especially after the relationship yielded one of the biggest success stories in tennis in recent memory. A mentor role at the event will be filled by LTA coach Jeremy Bates with Raducanu saying:
"Jeremy [Bates] is part of women's tennis at the LTA so while he's here he's helping me out. But going forwards I'm just going to wait and find the right person, I'm not going to rush into anything."
Raducanu once again underlined that she will take her time with the decision as she wants to make sure it's the right one:
"I want to make sure I make the right decision. Even though I'm quite young I've got a lot of experience banked and at the end of the day you're out there on your own and you have to be your own coach on the court, so I'm pretty comfortable."
Raducanu also stressed that her approach to tennis won't change:
"I don't really want to change anything. What got me to this point is not thinking anything differently so if I put additional thoughts in my head then that will just create a problem I think. I'm just going to keep going about my business and staying the same."
