Iga Swiatek is into another WTA 1000 Quarter-Final after easily thrashing
Yulia Putintseva 6-1, 6-2 and now it is a battle of former World No.1's in her sights as she faces Caroline Wozniacki in
Indian Wells.
Swiatek easily swept aside Danielle Collins in her opener and followed that up with a revenge mission in the next round as she saw off Linda Noskova. As a result, Putintseva was always going to be up against it and she was merely outclassed by the World No.1.
Putintseva kept pace early with a first game of the match, but it was merely domination from there as Swiatek reeled off five games in a row as the former couldn't live with her power, outstanding returning and producing from the baseline as she took it 6-1. Winning the first three games of the second set, Swiatek looked likely for a potential bagel, but Putintseva held firm. She found a break on the Swiatek serve, but the World No.1 as expected found another gear to power through as she had her mid match wobble but came out on top still 6-2 in the second. With Wozniacki playing well but not to Swiatek's level, it could be a long night at the office for the Dane.
