Caroline Garcia exited early from the
Rome Open and she broke down in tears after the match during an interview with French publication L'Equipe as her struggles continue.
Garcia discovered some form in the second part of last year's campaign after a rather lacklustre first part of the season. Something similar has been happening this year as the French player is not playing at the level she played at times last year and it's frustrating for her with the French Open coming up.
She had some moments earlier this year making the final in her hometown of Lyon and another on in Mexico though she lost both. Since then it's been a rather big struggle with emotions becoming too much after this Rome exit. Speaking after the match a tearful Garcia said:
"I sank on my own. I'm making the effort, but it doesn't work. I would like to know why, to be able to control it. But no, it's sinking me more and more. Instead to enjoy the moment on the pitch, it becomes a nightmare. For a few weeks, and even since the beginning of the year, I have had bad timings. I misread the trajectories. Surely a problem of concentration, of game reading. I find it difficult to explain it."
She added:
"I'm not well enough positioned to hit as hard as I would like or to advance as much. These are silly mistakes, errors of placement or lucidity because the legs, the placement and the commitment are not there."
