Czech Republic’s tennis star
Karolina Muchova believes that the
climate protest did change the rhythm of the
US Open semifinal.
The fourth and final Grand Slam is moving towards its
conclusion as the remaining players are getting ready for one final push.
Muchova suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the semifinal of
the last-four clash against America’s Coco Gauff.
The game was halted for nearly 45 minutes in the second set because
of the climate protest.
Muchova was quoted in a report where she believed that the protest
did change the rhythm of the match.
"Yeah, I mean, it happened at Wimbledon, as well. We
see it here and there on some occasions. Not just with tennis. It is what it
is. I mean, it's obviously changed the rhythm a little bit and, yeah, what can
we do about it? People," she said.
Despite the result, Muchova will be extremely pleased with
her performance in the mega-event as it was the first time she managed to play
in the quarterfinal or beyond at the Flashing Medows.
Overall, the last 12 months have proved to be extremely good
for the current world number 10 who also played in the final of the French Open
where she lost to Poland’s Iga Swiatek with a score of 6–2, 5–7, 6–4.
