Ons Jabeur overcame a long rain delay and defeated Daria Kasatkina in the semifinals of the Charleston WTA 500 by 7-5, 7-5.
The Tunisian had a slow start to the year and had not won two consecutive matches in her last three tournaments (Australian Open, Indian Wells, and Miami). This resulted in her dropping from the second to the fifth position in the world rankings.
However, Jabeur's clay court season has brought better results and improved her game. Despite Kasatkina leading 5-3 in the first set, Jabeur fought back and won the set 7-5 after the rain delay. The second set was equally competitive, but Jabeur managed to secure a crucial break and won the set 7-5.
She achieve to defend her points from last year's final against Belinda Bencic, and a win will give her the chance to claim her first title since the Grass Court Championships Berlin in 2022. Bencic is playing Jessica Pegula in the second semifinal, and if she wins, it could set up a repeat of last year's final.
