Karolina Muchova only returned from injury in June so it is no real shock that she has decided in her next move to take it easy over the next week by withdrawing from the 2024 Wuhan Open.
Muchova has been in superb form over recent months with the US Open gleaming a semi-final which was perhaps blighted by her stomach issues earlier in the tournament.
She then turned her attention to the Asian hard court swing reaching the final in Beijing at the China Open losing out to Coco Gauff in a pretty one sided affair in the Chinese capital.
But given that she didn't play this time last year due to injury, her rankings will just rise and so it is perhaps a shrewd move. Instead she will play Ningbo next week and start to end her great second half to the season.
"Hi everyone. Unfortunately I won't be able to compete in Wuhan this year," she wrote on social media. "After a tough schedule in Beijing, I need a bit more time to fully recover. Looking forward to seeing you all in Ningbo next week,."
