Alison Riske has continued her brilliance moving into the final at the Wuhan Open with a 7-5, 7-5 upset of Petra Kvitova in two hours and five minutes.
Riske came through in a thrilling contest saving four set points in a thrilling climax to the second set. The American is now into her first Premier final; in defeating the former two time champion with all her previous finals coming at International; but not the higher level.
Riske has form defeating Kvitova upsetting her 6-3, 6-0 in the first round at the US Open in 2013; she performed well again in this case.
Now it is the turn of Aryna Sabalenka for the American as she aims to defeat the reigning champion in what will be her first Premier final.
