.@PHShriver and @LDavenport76 discuss a potential bump between Rogers and Bencic in between sets 🍿 #CharlestonOpen
Belinda Bencic had a heated clash with Shelby Rogers at the Charleston Open with some icy moments present in the 3-set match as well.
Bencic and Rogers played a very heated clash where the American had the upper hand for most of it. She threw away a big lead in the second set allowing Bencic to force a decider after which they had an interesting moment on the court. During the bathroom break between sets Rogers made her way off the court brushing past Bencic which startled the Swiss player.
She was surprised by that because she though the American would bump into her as she explained after the match:
“I don’t know. I think she just walked right into me. She didn’t bump me but, I don’t know. I thought she’s gonna bump me, so I was a bit surprised, but all good.”
She then made the reference towards the talk about trash talk in tennis joking that perhaps it already started:
“Maybe we are already starting this trash talk."
Asked about her opinion on the topic, Bencic said:
“I think it would be cool. I mean, why not! I know you love these kinds of stories. It’s great. It’s great for the people. It would be fun, I think. It would be nice to try it out. Make it more interesting. I think we are all just too nice right now.”
