Coco Gauff
and
Caty McNally got together to attend The Weeknd concert in London.
Both
players concluded their participation in the singles draw with early exits.
McNally was defeated by local player Jodie Anna Burrage in the first round
(6-1, 6-3), while Gauff fell to Sofia Kenin in a competitive match (6-4, 4-6,
6-2) featuring the former Australian Open champion.
The young
American players are close friends off the tour and were a regular doubles pair
until last year when Gauff started playing with
Jessica Pegula. McNally, on the
other hand, has focused more on singles over the past year but has also
appeared in some tournaments partnering with players like Anna Kalinskaya,
Magda Linette, and Diane Parry.
Despite
their early exits from the main draw, the American tennis players are still in
London and enjoyed attending The Weeknd concert. They shared photos on social
media, capturing their experience at the concert:
21-year-old
McNally is also out of the doubles draw, where she teamed up with Ashlyn
Krueger and were defeated by Caroline Garcia and Luisa Stefani. The American
pair had not played together since the ITF USA 28th event in 2021.
On the
other hand, Gauff is the second seed in doubles alongside Jessica Pegula, and
they advanced past the first round with a victory over Kamila Rakhimova and
Aliaksandra Sasnovich. If they become champions or at least reach the final,
the American duo will be the highest-ranked partnership, and Pegula will
achieve the world No. 1 doubles ranking for the first time in her career,
pushing Gauff into the second position.
The
'McCoco' duo has achieved good results, winning three WTA 250 tournaments
(Washington, Charleston II, and Parma) and reaching the final of the 2021 US
Open, where they were defeated by the pairing of Samantha Stosur and Shuai Zhang.
