Miyu Kato has lost her appeal against having her points taken and prize money from the Women's Doubles at Roland Garros amid the default incident against Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzkova.
Like in Madrid, it was the women's doubles that took centre stage but for all the wrong reasons as Kato was defaulted alongside her partner for throwing a ball back which hit a ball girl in the face.
Seemingly accidental, Sorribes Tormo and Bouzkova became the villains of the piece by complaining to the umpire about the ball girl crying and getting them defaulted.
Kato had to forfeit around $23,000 but was all set to appeal after winning the Mixed Doubles with Tim Puetz in a redemption arc for the Japanese ace.
But in a tweet after losing an opener in s'Hertogenbosch, she said that she lost the appeal. "The French Open (Roland Garros) fined me as well as rejecting my appeal for getting my prize money and points so all I can do is to keep looking forwards."
She will continue to chase ranking points next week in Berlin after losing hers in Paris.
