The 2025 WTA season saw an array of title winners, with the spoils shared between some of the best players in the world. In total, 13 players won more than
one title, with world number one
Aryna Sabalenka coming out on top with an impressive four titles.
The Belarusian was rampant in 2025, with her tally of titles possibly should have been even higher as she continued to sprint away from the competition at the top of the rankings. She began the year with a bang, clinching glory in the
Brisbane International before two final defeats at the Australian Open and Indian Wells Open were followed by a well-deserved Miami Open win. She made three finals on clay, coming out on top in just one of them. After losing the Stuttgart final, she bounced back in emphatic fashion, winning the Madrid Open before the roles were reversed against Coco Gauff in the Roland Garros final, losing at the final hurdle of another major final.
She eventually managed to get a first major of 2025 at the US Open, defending her title to clinch a fourth title this year. The 27-year-old made one more final as she looked to end the year on a positive, but after a very competitive WTA Finals event in Riyadh, a resurgent
Elena Rybakina pipped her in a thrilling final. While four titles is a very impressive haul, five final defeats will leave a sour taste in her mouth.
Swiatek, Rybakina, Pegula closely follow
In a below-par campaign by her astonishing standards,
Iga Swiatek was able to still lift three trophies this year. She had to be patient for her first title, but the wait was worth it. The Pole demolished the competition to take home a first Wimbledon crown, defeating a hapless Amanda Anisimova without dropping a game. This was closely followed by a first title in the Cincinnati Open before she came from a set down to clinch the Korea Open win.
It was also an off-season for Rybakina, but it ended with a flourish. She won her first of the year in the Internationaux de Strasbourg before she hit a purple patch at the end of the year. The Kazakh clinched the Ningbo Open title before winning a whopping $5 million in her straight set win over Sabalenka. The third player to win three titles was
Jessica Pegula. The American won a title on each surface. It began with victory in the ATX Open before still on home soil claiming the Charleston Open. She defeated Swiatek at the Bad Homburg Open in June, but was unable to add another title to her ever-growing collection.
Grand Slam champions Gauff and Keys among players with two titles
Both Gauff and Madison Keys enjoyed Grand Slam success. Keys was the first major winner of the year as she won a maiden slam at the Australian Open. This was just before winning the Adelaide International in what was an exceptional start to the year. The world number three's first title came at the French Open. Her form fell off a cliff afterwards, but she still managed to taste success in the Wuhan Open, showing off her class and quality on the court.
Similar to Keys, Mirra Andreeva won two titles very close to each other. Both were WTA 1000 titles in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and Indian Wells Open. Anisimova also got her titles from these 1000 events, coming at the start of the year in the Qatar Open and at the end with a Chian Open win. These were added to the brace of Grand Slam defeats in a fantastic year for her.
A brace of young talents Victoria Mboko and Maya Joint both exploded onto the scene with success on the WTA Tour. Mboko surprised everyone with the Canadian Open title while also getting her hands on the Hong Kong Open title right at the end of the 2025 season. Joint took home a couple of 250 titles in the Rabat Grand Prix and Eastbourne Open.
Belinda Bencic marked her return to the sport with the Abu Dhabi Open and Tokyo Open, once again at each end of the year. Former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez found her winning touch later on, claiming the DC Open and Japan Open. Elise Mertens has had countless success in doubles, but her singles form was on point with a Singapore Open and Libema Open victories. Finally, McCartney Kessler came out on top in the Hobart Open and Nottingham Open.
