Garbine Muguruza won her
Yarra Valley Classic semifinal match against Vondrousova in stellar fashion to set up the final against Ashley Barty.
It was a spectacular display from Muguruza who defeated Vondrousova with 6-1 6-0. She played like she was on a mission and Garbine showcased once again how much she enjoys playing in Australia. Following the match she said:
"I'm very happy for sure. I think I played well today. My serve was working in the right moments and I felt like, since the beginning of the match, I could take control of the points."
She did take control of the points with her strong serving and baseline play racking up 19 winners to only 10 unforced errors for the dominant display. By winning she set up the spectacular final between Barty and her. The Australian advanced to the final after he opponent withdrew prior to the match. She will be well-rested so Muguruza expects a proper battle.
"It's always good to play the top players, especially the No.1 right now. We've had tough matches, so I'm expecting another battle."
