Former #1 Naomi Osaka is into the QFs in Doha, as Lesia Tsurenko withdraws before their match (elbow). Awaits Pliskova or Noskova tomorrow. First QFs since Miami 2022. Nice to see.
Naomi Osaka won’t have to play for a third day in a row and continues to make strides to in her tennis return in reaching her first Quarter-Final since 2022 at the Qatar Open.
A milestone in her return to the court, Osaka will now face a Czech star in Karolina Pliskova who has been hardly off a tennis court in recent weeks after winning Cluj or Linda Noskova who dumped out top seed Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open.
Osaka benefitted from Lesia Tsurenko withdrawing due to injury with an elbow problem. The Ukrainian dumped out Ons Jabeur yesterday.
But it is the former World No.1 who now benefits and likely Elena Rybakina will get moved to a more centre slot in pursuit of the quarter finals.
