Tomasz Wiktorowski was the long-time coach of
Iga Swiatek up until recently when the Pole who has been mainly a clay court Grand Slam winner decided to change her tact. But he has shut down any speculation regarding their split.
Wiktorowski spoke in the Polish media saying that their partnership was done and that no fake news would change that in that regard. He said that they had a good relationship and also shut down potential issues with her psychologist that were mooted. He said they all worked together well as a tandem.
He also continued that they made all decisions as a partnership over as a sole entity and so were all on the same page and paints the picture that merely it didn't work out.
"There have been a lot of speculations and insinuations... Definitely too much, considering that the message that was issued very precisely defines our decision. It is enough to read it with understanding, not with the intention of looking for sensation. Our end of cooperation was done with respect for both parties and no fake news will change that," he said to
Przeglad Sportowy.
"I think that in general we had a very good relationship in the team. During three years of intensive cooperation, it is impossible to avoid difficult situations, but even then, we always found a way to reach an agreement and get back on track. Iga and everything related to the preparation of a player at the highest level have always been a priority for us. It was simply a necessity. We have never made sudden and, above all, ill-considered decisions."
This after Swiatek announced the following in September. "After 3 years of the greatest achievements in my career, together with my coach Tomasz Wiktorowski we decided to part ways. I want to start with a big thank you and appreciating our work together," she wrote on Instagram.
