Patrick Mouratoglou is set to embark on a new coaching journey with
Simona Halep joining forces with the highly regarded Frenchman.
Halep parted ways with long-time coaches Daniel Dobre and Adrian Marcu at the turn of the year and sealed Melbourne Summer Set 1 earlier this year as well as producing an excellent run to the Quarter-Finals at Indian Wells.
She has since been out injured due to a thigh tear and has been ruled out of Miami, Charleston and the Billie Jean King Cup and heading into the clay court season, she will have the coach of Serena Williams by her side.
In a statement, he also revealed that he had a conversation with Williams and said that 'the door opened for me to work with someone else' potentially offering hints at the future of the great American.
"Today I am starting a new chapter in my coaching career. I am now the full-time coach of Simona Halep. In the last eight months, I realised how much I missed coaching, it is the passion of my life and I still feel I have so much to give."
"Simona came to the Mouratoglou Academy before Indian Wells for a training block. I swung by at a few of her practices and watched her train. At the end of the week, she asked me if I was available to coach her, I have the highest respect for her but it was out of question at the time."
"A few weeks later, I had a conversation with Serena and the door opened for me. At least short term to work with someone else."
