Paula Badosa did really well to take down a tricky opponent in
Marta Kostyuk at the
Rome Open beating her in two rather simple sets 6-4 6-2.
Badosa played really well in Madrid as well but she wasn't able to get past a really good Maria Sakkari. It's looking really good in Rome as well as she was able to take down Kostyuk in two sets avoiding any major complications. Kostyuk for the most part is really solid but she's not yet at the level to challenge the best if she's not playing her best.
She wasn't today and Badosa was able to use that to her advantage. The first set started well for Kostyuk as she took an early lead and held it for a while nearly missing out on having a double break lead. After finding her rhythm, Badosa took control of the match taking the opening set 6-4 with a superb sequence at the end of the set.
The second set was pretty strong as well from the Spaniard as she had a double break lead this time around finishing things off 6-2. She was simply better from the baseline and far more consistent with fewer errors. Oftentimes that's just enough.
