At one time,
Stefanos Tsitsipas and
Paula Badosa were one of tennis' most high-profile couples, enduring an on-and-off relationship. They have since gone their separate ways for good, and a clue for that may have been unveiled by Tsitspias after answering a question that got a response from Badosa.
The pair first got together back in 2023 following the Rome Open. It was never the smoothest of relationships, breaking up and coming back together multiple times as they looked to juggle their tennis careers along with each other.
In the end, it all came crashing down for good in 2025 when they officially ended their time together. 'Tsitsidosa' was no more with both parties confirming the news, but there was no reason written in stone for why they decided to call it quits aside from tennis. Tsitsipas' mother did
link it to tennis when quizzed on it last year.
However, a clue has been released from a recent interview Tsitsipas did at the recent Ultimate Tennis Showdown event in Nimes. He was asked whether he would prefer a tennis girlfriend or a non-tennis girlfriend. He did not hesitate to unveil his answer. “Non-tennis girlfriend. Trust me. Even if you don’t want to admit there’s competitiveness, there’s always competitiveness.”
A whole load of eyes have been diverted to this answer, one of them being Badosa herself. Underneath the Instagram post of the video, she
commented four laughing emojis. This humorous response has also got a huge amount of attention. To rub salt into the wound, Tsitsipas is currently dating former tennis player Kristen Thoms, who played in college albiet it seems that she has not continued.

It opens the door for them to focus on their tennis careers, which has not been going well in recent times. Once recognised as one of the best players on the ATP and WTA Tour, respectively, they have seen that crashing down in recent times. Tsitsipas had reached a brace of Grand Slam finals between 2021 and 2023 as well as winning a Masters 1000 title as recently as 2024. Since then, his tennis career has come crashing down with inconsistent form and early exits becoming the norm for the former world number three.
For Badosa, it has been primarily injuries that have sparked her downfall. She reached the Australian Open semi-final in 2025 in what looked like a remontada from the Spaniard on court but any momentum gained in that run was swiftly flushed away. She now finds herself ranked 113 in the world, far off from those distant heights she was at one time. The former world number two is now at huge risk of missing out on the biggest tournaments in the world, having to rely on her status and past for wildcards or going through the qualifying route. Tennis fans will have their eyes peeled as they continue to follow Tsitsidosa on court, and recently off it as well.
