Petra Kvitova sealed yet another grass court title last week at the bett1 Open Berlin but won't defend another this week at
Eastbourne International.
Kvitova was scheduled to face Jelena Ostapenko today with the scheduling raising eyebrows with the defending champion and the Birmingham champion set to face off on an outside court.
But it seems there is now a reason as Kvitova has now withdrawn from her title defence.
She will still head into Wimbledon though as one of the leading lights aiming to add to her Grand Slam triumph at SW19 at the age of 33 and will now take the week to prepare instead which is understandable given the injury woes she suffered after winning Miami.
"I'm very sad that I have to withdraw from the tournament in Eastbourne and not have the chance to defend my title," said Kvitova.
"It's one of my favourite stops on tour and I wish everyone involved a great week."
