Lesia Tsurenko and Ana Bogdan broke records during an epic final set tie-break at Wimbledon on Friday evening with the Ukrainian prevailing after 38 points which is the longest in Women's Grand Slam singles history.
Tsurenko will now get two days off before playing Jessica Pegula on Sunday in the Last 16 and it could be said that it is needed.
Bogdan took the opening set 6-4, while Tsurenko took it similarly by a slim margin 6-3.
Before Tsurenko and Bogdan went to a final set tie-break which saw the former prevail 20-18.
The previous longest tie-break in a Grand Slam women's singles match was back in 2015 with 36 points at Roland Garros.
Back then, it saw Denisa Allertova seal victory over Johanna Konta in the first round and it also is the joint longest in a Grand Slam singles match overall.
This is shared with Andy Roddick's 38 point tie-break in the opening set of his victory over Jo Wilfried Tsonga back at the 2007 Australian Open.
Absolutely remarkable from both and the kind of match where Bogdan will feel aggrieved to lose out in the end.
