Aryna Sabalenka made it 2/2 in the
Madrid Open finals as she produced an incredible level to overcome a very good
Iga Swiatek in three sets 6-3 3-6 6-3.
It was a very well-contest match by the players with both producing some incredible shots at times. Both played at a high level but Sabalenka was able to hit a higher level than Swiatek and it often happened in very crucial rallies. The first set was played really well by Sabalenka who took it 6-3 behind some impressive play from the baseline.
She was able to impose her will from the baseline for much of this set and hit the ball harder. It flew far quicker from her side of the court compared to the side of Swiatek. Though at times, she overhit the ball and that's what happened in the second set a few times. Swiatek was able to pull it back making it 1-1 in sets that to that.
In the final set, we saw Sabalenka hit some more crazy peaks and though she lost the initial break she had, she was able to break Swiatek once more and this time around hold it to close out the match 6-3. Just an incredible level from a player who loves these conditions and plays really well in them. A worthy revenge for Stuttgart too.
