Iga Swiatek has been called the most bankable tennis star and a 'bad woman' by Andy Roddick as she embarks on her quest to win the Sunshine Double and become only the second player alongside Steffi Graf to win it twice over the course of her career.
Swiatek was in epic form during Indian Wells as she dismissed Maria Sakkari in the final and Roddick was full of praise for the World Number One and said that her career is almost undersold due to how much she has achieved over the course of her career at such a young age.
“Probably Iga at this point, she has just been more bankable over the course of her career," said Roddick on Tennis Channel.
“As good as we all know Iga is, her career at this point is almost undersold. Four Slams, eight Masters 1000s, 19 [title] wins. She is approaching the rare era of like Henin, Sharapova or Lindsay Davenport, and Kim Clijsters, she’s like right there and she is also 22 years old. She’s a bad woman man, she can play.”
Monica Puig, former Olympic Gold medalist also said similar but that she will become one of the best of all time. “The way that she hits the ball, the way that she is moving, she is just a force to be reckoned with and mentally she is so tough,” she said.
“We have seen her in moments where she kind of looks like she is going to wobble, waver for a couple of minutes and then she kind of just gets back in her zone and finishes the job.
“She is definitely going to be adding her name to the mix as one of the greatest of all time if she continues like this because what she has been doing is incredible. I have been on the receiving end of Iga and it is not fun.”
