American tennis star Sofia Kenin has withdrawn from the upcoming Nottingham Open, citing the injury that has kept her out of action for several weeks.
The 2020 Australian Open champion has been dealing with an ankle injury since the Miami Open, and subsequently pulled herself out of all tournaments since, including Roland Garros.
With her sights set on the grass-court season, Kenin was scheduled to compete at the Nottingham Open, which runs from June 6-12, 2022. However, her injury still seems to be a major concern, as it was revealed she had withdrawn from the tournament.
Kenin has barely competed during the 2022 season, losing in the first round of the Australian Open in January. She would go on to lose five consecutive first-round matches with four of those five losses coming in straight sets, including the Australian open match. However, the former World No.4 did reach the quarterfinals of Adelaide 1, where she lost to top seed Ashleigh Barty in straight sets.
