It has been a great year for the younger generation on the WTA Circuit, with much progress being made by many stars. While it was just Mirra Andreeva in the top 100 last year, there are now six teenagers in the top 100 at the climax of the 2025 season.
It was very much expected for Andreeva to finish inside the top 10, let alone the top 100. The 18-year-old has an extremely bright future in the sport and bolstered those claims by clinching two WTA 1000 titles at the start of the year, followed by a brace of Grand Slam quarter-finals.
Her season has fallen off slightly since then, with her confidence on court taking a dent. After looking an almost certainty to reach the WTA Finals for the first time, she was beaten to qualification by a whisker due to a slow end to the campaign and strong Asian swings by Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina. Despite this, she is by far the leading teenager in the WTA standings, but she is starting to get competition.

Mboko and Joint clinch maiden WTA titles

Going into 2025, Victoria Mboko was ranked outside of the top 300. Eight months later, she was seeded for the US Open. A large factor was down to her unexpected Canadian Open. She defeated the likes of Coco Gauff and Rybakina enroute to a hugely impressive triumph, overcoming a set deficit in the final to defeat four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka to clinch the title.
While her season looked to have tailed off going into the Asian swing, she proved that the Canadian Open was no fluke after tasting glory in the Hong Kong Open, ending the year as the world number 18. She is very highly rated by many on the WTA Circuit, with 2026 a big year for the Canadian.
It has also been a big year for Maya Joint, who has proved to be a tricky customer for many players. The Aussie has won two titles in 2025, both of those being WTA 250 events in the Rabat Open and Eastbourne Open. This propelled her up the rankings, with her looking good to be a seed for her home Grand Slam event this upcoming January.

17-year-old Jovic blasts into top 40

The youngest player in the top 100, it has been a stunning breakout campaign for the immensely talented American. Iva Jovic was the youngest winner on the WTA Tour this year after she fended off the challenge from her senior competitors to clinch the WTA 500 Guadalajara title in sensational fashion.
She climbed 37 places from 73rd to 36th in the world. This steep climb was met with a lot of intriguing eyes from tennis fans and pundits, who are already guessing how this talented teenager's career will pan out, notably leaning towards a multitude of titles.

Pair of Czech stars squeeze into top 100

Tereza Valentova may be a name still floating in the heads of tennis fans. This is due to her recent run to the Japan Open final, the 18-year-old's first WTA senior final. Earlier in the year, she won a brace of WTA 125 titles, giving her a taste of success. Unfortunately, she ran into an inform Leylah Fernandez in the final. Despite levelling after a tricky opening set, she was defeated by the former US Open champion for the title.
Nevertheless, this run to the final has seen her shoot up a new career-high of 57th in the world, with her settling as the 56th ranked player to culminate the year.
Another player who had a strong end to the year was Sara Bejlek. The fellow Czech star has won three WTA 125 tournaments, with a brace of them recently coming in October. This was also the catalyst in her breaking into the top 100, which is where you can find her. The 19-year-old sits 75th in the world, with more ground to make up in 2026.
