The
WTA Finals is set to take place between November 1-8, 2025 with Coco Gauff set to return as defending champion after beating Zheng Qinwen for the title last year.
Zheng will not return in 2025 with injury blighting her year. While Madison Keys after becoming a Grand Slam champion makes her return for the first time since 2016. Amanda Anisimova also makes her bow after reaching two Grand Slam finals.
While we see the usual stars in Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek as well as familiar faces in Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina added to the field for the last action of the 2025 season before a short sojourn for a month or so before the 2026 campaign gets underway.

Predictions
Samuel Gill, Head Editor for TennisUpToDate.com sees Aryna Sabalenka as the bonafide favourite for the title but also there might be a sting in the tail.
It is very hard to judge the field for the WTA Finals as in reality only a few are in form. Those being Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina. The latter will play until the latter week before in Tokyo at least so in reality is very tired.
So while she made such a big effort in getting to the tournament it might all be in vein when she gets there. Coco Gauff as defending champion has to be favoured to suit the conditions but it is another American that I pick for a great run and that is Amanda Anisimova.
When the WTA Awards come around, no doubt she will be one of the player of the year nominees and Comeback Player of the Year shoe-in unfair perhaps on others like Belinda Bencic who has tuck to tennis life again after pregnancy like a duck to water. But Anisimova has been the standout.
It is this sort of event too outside of the Grand Slams that she will relish and in reality will bring her perhaps the biggest title of her career. Saying that though Sabalenka has been on holiday and is refreshed after not being crowned Wuhan champion so will hope to add this one to her collection.
Favourites:
*** Amanda Anisimova
** Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff
* Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina
