Former world number one Chris Evert is set to be awarded the 'Serving Up Dreams' award on the opening day of the US Open.
The 68-year-old is often termed one of the greatest women’s tennis players in the history of the Open era.
To honour her all on the court as well as off the court activities, including charitable work for the USTA (United States Tennis Association), Evert is set to receive an award on the opening day of the fourth Grand Slam of the year which is set to begin in less than three weeks time.
Evert ended her illustrious career in 1989 after winning a whopping 157 titles, including 18 Grand Slams.
Her most successful competition was the French Open where she ended up lifting the title seven times—in 1974, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1985 and 1986.
Her least-most successful competition was the Australian Open where she ended up winning just twice — in 1982 and 1984.
Evert won three doubles Grand Slams in her career — French Open in 1974, 1975 and Wimbledon in 1976 — as well as she also the tour finals four times.
