Katie Boulter hopes to avoid decisive mixed doubles match against fiancé Alex De Minaur. The Brits secured victory in their United Cup opener against Argentina, pushing themselves to the limit in a tight mixed doubles clash.
Against Australia, they’ll have to ensure a spot in the quarterfinals, this time with an extra twist: Boulter’s fiancé, Alex De Minaur, represents Australia, who are also in a must-win situation to advance.

In the firt tied, Boulter won her singles match against Nadia Podoroska and teamed up with Charlie Broom for the mixed doubles, claiming victory in straight sets. On the Australian side, the Perez/Ebden duo suffered defeat. Potentially, Boulter and De Minaur could face off in a decisive mixed doubles match for qualification.
"I don’t know about having a match against him, I think that’s going to be terrible, and a bit of a popcorn match," Boulter said. "But yeah, let’s hope we don’t reach there and we win before."
Boulter expressed confidence in her mixed doubles performance alongside Charles Broom after their strong result. They defeated South Americans Maria Lourdes Carle and Tomas Martin Etcheverry 7-6, 7-5, with a standout performance from Boulter. "We played so great together considering it was our first time," she said during the on-court interview.
"There might have been a few nerves," admitted Broom, 26. "But I feel like playing with Katie, she’s so experienced. She helped me through that in a number of ways. I thought we gelled so well together on the court, good energy and the crowd was great as well, getting us through a few tight moments, so that kind of settles you down. Looking forward to the next one against Australia."
