Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki will be making her return to the 2024 Australian Open for the first time in four years, and the Dane has expressed how much it means to her to compete in Melbourne.
The Australian Open kicks off on January 14, and Wozniacki will be hoping to make some noise at the event where she won her only Grand Slam in 2018. The 33-year old retired from the sport in 2020, but announced her comeback three years later and has since rejoined the WTA tour.

Wozniacki takes trip down memory lane in Melbourne

After her first round loss to Elina Svitolina in Auckland, Wozniacki returned to Melbourne Park arena, the site of her greatest victory. The former World No.1 posted a photo to social media, where she expressed her joy at returning to the courts.
"Great to be back at the Rod Laver Arena after a few years away. This court will always be special,” wrote Wozniacki on Twitter.
Wozniacki earned the distinction of being the first Danish player to win a Grand Slam title at the Australian Open five years ago. Subsequently, she announced she would be taking a break from tennis in 2020, with the aim of starting a family. Nonetheless, the urge to return was too great, as Wozniacki announced her comeback three years later after experiencing the joy of motherhood with husband, retired NBA star David Lee.
