Simona Halep's former coach, Darren Cahill continues to fight the corner of his former charge despite no longer coaching her after new information came to light surrounding the sample of Roxudustat and the amount needed to trigger a positive sample and as a result a damning verdict on the ITIA's decision to ban Halep.
Halep made her return to the court at the Miami Open losing a three setter to Paula Badosa. Recently, Howard Jacobs who served as Halep's attorney slammed the piece written by David Walsh for The Times. He said that the journalist did not go through the decision thoroughly prior to writing his piece saying that criticising a piece he hasn't read is a 'meaningless exercise'.
Cahill who spent six years as Halep's coach and saw her head towards the top of women's tennis under his tutelage urged tennis bodies to do better in order to stop this happening in future. Food for thought no doubt.
"It’s time for the false accusations and false narratives to stop. The tennis bodies need to do better. That is the 4 majors, @atptour & @WTA who fund this organization as they waste $ millions of tennis player money," Cahill wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
