Stefanos Tsitsipas caught a lot of heat during the US Open for using multiple lengthy bathroom breaks during the event which made ATP look at the rule again.
The whole bathroom breaks fiasco at the US Open involving Tsitsipas is rather well known which prompted the ATP to announce it would look at the rule to try and minimize abuse of the rule for gaining an unfair advantage. A probable change in the rule would be to impose a time limit which as of now was not present with most players keeping it as short as possible out of courtesy.
That did not prevent Tsitsipsa to show a healthy sense of humour by poking fun at himself and the rule in general noting that the dryness of
Indian Wells is something that should work well for everyone. He said:
"It's very dry in Indian Wells. That is good for me because I sweat less, which makes for fewer bathroom breaks, which makes for fewer complaints. So a very good sign so far."
It's a hilarious thing to say but it might not be factually correct. If Tsitispas gets to play during the day session with temperatures above 25 degrees celsius then he might still sweat quite a lot. Either way, it's a way for Tsitsipas o say that he will take fewer breaks than he did before probably due to heavy criticism he received for it.
How it looks in practice remains to be seen.
