With the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers coming to a conclusion last weekend, several WTA stars represented their nations in an attempt to secure a spot in the finals.
This led to some spectacular and unique matchups, which in turn produced several jaw-dropping shots from various competitors. A noteworthy point occurred during a tie between Canadian star Leylah Fernandez and Belgian veteran Yanina Wickmayer, as both ladies battled for supremacy in a singles bout.
With Fernandez on serve, Wickmayer was able to take control of the point via a well-placed backhand. Fernandez did her best to keep the ball in play, but was soon pressured by her Belgian opponent, who hit a precise volley in the hopes of ending the point. However, Fernandez's speed and footwork saw her not only get to the ball, but hit an absurd passing shot that saw the crowd erupt with applause.
