Even the most established teams can suffer a lapse in communication as
Coco Gauff found alongside
Jessica Pegula in their opening doubles tie at the
Canadian Open.
Gauff and Pegula faced Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi at the Omnique Banque Nationale who infamously defaulted from their tie at Roland Garros against Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo.
This after Kato hit a ball girl by accident throwing the ball back, but instead of a ball girl, it was Pegula that was in the line of fire for Gauff.
Gauff hit a wayward serve that hit Pegula, but her partner barely flinched and just looked round puzzled at what was going on.
