Marketa Vondrousova has revealed that she has a
Wimbledon tattoo and has updated fans on a bet with her coach whilst competing at the National Bank
Canadian Open (Omnium Banque Nationale) in Montreal.
2023 SW19 champion Vondrousova made history last month as the first unseeded woman to win the singles title at the grasscourt major. The Czech player put on a dominant display against sixth seed and two-time finalist Ons Jabeur, ultimately winning in straight sets 6-4 6-4.
Vondrousova is now playing at the WTA 1000 event in Canada, where she is seeded ninth, and has progressed through her opening round after defeating Mayar Sherif 6-4 6-2.
Vondrousova makes tattoo revelation
At a recent press conference, Vondrousova was asked if she had any updates on her tattoo. This question came after the 24-year-old revealed at Wimbledon that her coach Jan Hernych had promised to get matching strawberry tattoos with her if she won the major.
However, despite taking the victory at the All England Club, Vondrousova revealed that Hernych had not yet kept their promise. Nevertheless, the player had still got a small tattoo to mark her debut Grand Slam title, and her sister had also joined in on the occasion.
"So we have one with my sister. We did, like, W. We have small W," she revealed.
Coach could be getting tattoo in New York
Moreover, Vondrousova told the press that her coach could still be getting a matching tattoo with her in New York.
"I think I'm going to go with Coach in New York," she said while laughing.
For now, though, Vondrousova is getting ready to face former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in her next match in Canada. The Dane is returning to the sport after three years away.
