Iga Swiatek did what can best be described as a Roger Federer as she forgot her accreditation and with strict rules at the
Australian Open, she wasn't allowed in until she produced it.
Swiatek is a well known figure of course at the Grand Slam with this being her seventh main draw appearance. She has reached the semi-finals twice in 2019 and 2025 and now the second seed is chasing her maiden crown which will also complete her career Grand Slam. She is into the Quarter-Finals where she will face Elena Rybakina.
On Monday either before or
after her match against Maddison Inglis which she won only dropping three games, she was spotted in the lobby. She was dressed in practice gear and was waiting patiently for nearly two minutes as she couldn't get into the building.
She was waiting for a member of her team to pass her what she needed which was her ID as she stared pensively at her phone. Swiatek was stopped due to not having accreditation on her which brought back memories of Roger Federer in 2019.
Back then, the Swiss ace faced the same situation and also did so at Wimbledon despite being a legend of the game and easily recognisable even to armchair tennis fans. He had to wait at the entrance until a few members of his team produced the goods but it is a moment that has gone down in folklore.
