The Western & Southern Open also known as the Cincinnati Masters will begin in three weeks time before the US Open and the entry list has been announced.

This year, it won’t be in Cincinnati, it will be at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on the site of the US Open so a bubble can be created with both events.
On the entry list for the men’s, only four top 20 players will not be involved with Roger Federer who is of course injured and off the shelf for the US Open itself the main one.
Gael Monfils, Fabio Fognini and Stan Wawrinka are the other three ranked 9th, 11th and 17th respectively.
In terms of the Women’s field, it is more depleted with Ash Barty, Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina in particular ranked 1st, 2nd and 5th all not involved.
Svitolina has been the only player in action during lockdown competing in the Bett1 Aces but has not entered this event so far.
Other names absent include US Open champion Bianca Andreescu and Naomi Osaka and it is still not fully known whether they will be involved at all during the US swing. For the former in particular in defending her title.
Serena Williams will also be involved though in New York as ninth seed with Aryna Sabalenka next up from 11th spot in the rankings.
