The WTA Adelaide International is going to be ferociously competed by some of the best tennis players in the world from January 12-18. With the competition at a high level, there is no wonder that there are a whole host of enriching rewards waiting at the end of the line.
It is the perfect chance for players to ramp up their preparations for the Australian Open while getting more match action into their legs after a period resting and relaxing in the off-season. That is now firmly in the past, with there a whole host of high calibre tournaments being played out.
The Adelaide International is one of them, with a lot of quality on the scene set to battle it out for the prizes. A duo of Americans will lead the field into battle, specifically Madison Keys and Jessica Pegula. Keys is under a lot of pressure to perform at the event she triumphed in last year, defeating Pegula in the final who is hungry for revenge. They are both currently competing in the Brisbane International, with the pair of them getting off to a winning start.
This is also the case for 18-year-old sensation Mirra Andreeva, who is desperately looking to get back to the form she showcased at the start of 2025, living up to the hype surrounding her after she won a brace of WTA 1000 titles. She will be a firm contender for the title, competing with fellow Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova the fourth seed in southern Australia.
The inform Belinda Bencic has continued her imperious showings on the court in the United Cup, looking like a real threat for the title as she leads the Switzerland team into the semi-finals. Also in good form after a stunning back end to 2025 is Linda Noskova. The 19-year-old has a good record in making WTA finals, but the results are not great viewing. Clara Tauson and Emma Navarro complete the eight seeds in the event, with the quality not stopping there.
This time last year, Victoria Mboko was ranked outside the top 300. She is now inside the top 20 after a simply extraordinary campaign which featured two titles. A third would not go unnoticed for the young Canadian.
