WTA Prize Money Leaders Update | Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula lead ahead of Indian Wells

We head into Indian Wells which begins on Wednesday 4 March on the WTA side with tournaments this past week in Austin and Merida won by Peyton Stearns and Cristina Bucsa somewhat surprisingly given the fields that were assembled.

Iva Jovic was the leading light in Austin but was dumped out by Aussie ace Ajla Tomljanovic who continues to show that on her day she is still very much a threat for the top names. She also continued her streak of dumping out Williams sisters albeit no retirement this time from Venus.

But who fared best from this week in our Prize Money Leaders round-up, a look back at the top earners in singles and doubles which gives more of an accurate representation of who are the top players on the tour so far in 2026.

For instance Elena Rybakina sits top of the tree as the champion at the Australian Open. The entire top 10 remains the same, Jessica Pegula was due to play in Austin but she decided to withdraw which perhaps was a bit annoying for her close friend Madison Keys who wa wanting to play but due to ranking only one top ten player is allowed to be present at these tournaments.

So it goes in this top 10, Rybakina is followed by Sabalenka, Pegula, Svitolina, Gauff, Swiatek, Muchova, Mboko, Mertens and Bencic which is accurate for those at the top this season.

Shuai Zhang is perhaps the surprise face in the top 20. She jumped from 19th to 16th earlier today and jumped up to $534k. She was joined in the top 20 by Bucsa who sealed the title in Merida and she went from 54th to 20th. Magdalena Frech also had a strong week going from 74th to 34th.

Peyton Stearns zooms towards the top 30 also going up to 31st after winning in Austin. A bit of a title run to remember given her past at the college there and the Longhorn salute has become part of her on court persona. Others to rise include the popular Zeynep Sonmez who goes up to 42nd. Emma Navarro moves to 71st.

While after strong weeks, Katie Boulter, Taylor Townsend and Renata Zarazua enter the top 100. Clara Tauson, Barbora Krejcikova, Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Sorana Cirstea are among those to fall from one position to six over the course of the week due to others rising around them.
