Stefanos Tsitsipas receives ball.
The Middle East and Golden swing have both come to an end, with all the attention turning back towards the USA with a highly anticipated double header of Masters 1000 tournaments tennis fans are ready to get into.
The Indian Wells Open will prove to be a huge event with a lot of ranking points on offer for many players to capitalise on, but contrary to that a lot of points will be swiped away from certain players overall tallies. This made last week of competition very important with players looking to get into the best form possible ahead of what is to come.

Top five unchanged, Cobolli reaches new career-high

There is really not much to discuss about right at the top of the rankings. Carlos Alcaraz remains in a healthy position with Jannik Sinner hoping to close the gap down over the next month. Novak Djokovic stays in third with the trio all having not been in action.
The highest ranked player to step onto the court was Alexander Zverev who was dumped out early in the Mexican Open. Lorenzo Musetti stays in fifth while a similar early exit for Alex de Minaur in Acapulco prevents him from moving in sixth. Taylor Fritz remains as the number one American but fellow countryman Ben Shelton is right on his tail in eighth after Felix Auger-Aliassime failed to defend all the points from his expedition in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. The Canadian reached the semi-final, one stage off what he completed in 2025 and subsequently has dropped just one spot.
The victor in Dubai, Daniil Medvedev, closes the gap to Alexander Bublik in 10th, although the Russian's participation at Indian Wells is not clear yet. Jakub Mensik climbs a place into 12th a career high 12th in the world thanks to Casper Ruud dropping a place into 13th. This time next week Jack Draper could be out of the top 30 thanks to the 1000 points set to come off after his heroics in California last year. For now, he moves up a spot into 14th but will be looking behind him as the first Masters 1000 tournament of 2026 draws nearer.
The big winner is Flavio Cobolli who has firmly turned his rough patch in form at the start of the season around with the title at Acapulco. He climbs five places to world number 15, a new career high thanks to a third ATP title.
A brace of Russians are next on the list. Karen Khachanov leads Andrey Rublev in 16th and 17th respectively. Rublev will be kicking himself with a huge opportunity missed against the injured Tallon Griekspoor in the semi-finals in Dubai. Holger Rune drops one place as he continues to be sidelined. A five-place drop for Alejandro Davidovich Fokina moves him into 19th with Francisco Cerundolo seeing out the top 20 after a last-four defeat in the Chile Open. The winner in Santiago, Luciano Darderi, is now in a new career high of world number 21 after a successful period on clay.

Tsitsipas continues to fall away

A final in Mexico sees Frances Tiafoe jump up six places to 22nd with Jiri Lehecka also overtaking Tommy Paul who falls to 24th. Learner Tien loses out on four spots as he tumbles to 27th with Cameron Norrie losing three places and now sits 29th. Cousins Valentin Vacherot (26th) and Arthur Rinderknech (28th) benefited from this.
There is a lot of movement as we go further down. Arthur Fils, Corentin Moutet and Ugo Humbert all benefit from other players dropping down as the Frenchman sit in 31st to 33rd. Joao Fonseca, Jaume Munar, Sebastian Korda and Gabriel Diallo all climb three spots each with Denis Shapovalov falling three places to world number 39. A quarterfinal in Dubai saw Jenson Brooksby cannon up eight positions to 41st.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is one of the big losers. After showing some promise in Qatar, he was dumped out in the opening round in Dubai as his quest to defend his title was shattered by Humbert. A 13 place drop was in order as the former world number three plummeted down to his now position of 43rd. The sharp decline for the two-time Grand Slam finalist continues.
It is not the biggest drop. Tomas Machac opted not to compete this week due to a knee injury. He was set to defend 500 points from the title won last year in Mexico but this would not be the case. 18 places lost is for tough reading as he now can be found in 50th.

Despite going out with a whimper, Terrence Atmane is in a new career high at 52nd in the world whole a huge 26 place rise from the Miomir Kecmanovic pops him up at 58th. Chile Open runner-up Yannick Hanfmann (+16 to 65th), Mattia Bellucci (+16 to 94th) and Patrick Kypson (+8 to new career high 95th) are all winners from this week of action.
Quentin Halys is definitely not in the same boat. The Frenchman fell an outstanding 34 positions and is now outside the top world 100. Camilo Ugo Cerundolo (-8 to 67th), Eliot Spizzirri (-11 to 78th) and Roberto Bautista Agut (-8 to 93rd) also suffer dearly.
