The WTA have finally spoken amid the incident which took place on Tuesday surrounding
Shuai Zhang and Amarissa Kiara Toth at the
Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.
Zhang had a mark erased and when debating the controversial call with the umpire, she was ignored and had a panic attack.
Being booed by the crowd and her opponent celebrating despite the situation, she retired from the match.
Toth was not sympathetic towards her even post match and amid her well documented mental health problems in a remorseless tone:
'I don't understand why she made such a fuss out of it, that she wanted to overrule the judge's decision. I don't understand why she didn't accept it, but she made trouble for herself'.
But not only that the tournament's Facebook also got involved saying that the Chinese were manipulating the world with the video showing the incident happening.
The WTA while not referencing to this cited subsequent posts after the incident and a zero tolerance for racism as well as that it is being reviewed and addressed.
"The WTA has zero tolerance for racism in any form or context. The unfortunate incident that took place today at the Hungarian Grand Prix and subsequent posts are being reviewed and will be addressed."
