Carlos Alcaraz will break records before even hitting a tennis ball at the 2023 US Open as he becomes the youngest ever No.1 seed at the age of 20.
Alcaraz beats the record that has been in place for 66 years. It was previously held by Ashley Cooper since 1957, the Spaniard is 234 days younger than the previous record set by Cooper.
He also sealed the record of being the youngest man to be ranked as World Number One. He sealed that feat at 19 years, four months and six days old.
It will be the second Grand Slam title of the season if he retains the crown at Flushing Meadows, he saw off the challenge of 23-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon this year in a five set thriller.
He ended Djokovic's 34-match unbeaten streak at Wimbledon as a result so is well versed at taking records and making them his own. He has done another heading into the US Open.
