Alexander Zverev put forward another great performance on the North American hard courts as he defeated Sam Querrey in straight sets. Zverev took some time to adjust to his opponent but in the end, he was able to win the set with 6-4 after a late break to seal the deal.
Zverev served very well and won the majority of 1st serve points with ease. Querrey really did not have a chance in that set or the match. Zverev continued dominating on his own serve while Querrey was able to resist him for the better part of the 2nd set.
Once again very late Zverev carved out a chance and took it to seal the deal with 7-5. In the 3rd set, Zverev really took it to Querrey and dominated the better part of the set-closing out the match with a 6-2 finish. The German dropped only 5 points in the entire match on his first serve while also hitting 18 aces.
The number of winners was 39 compared to only 15 mistakes and it was a truly dominant display from Zverev whose winning streak now stands at 12.
