Andy Murray served a bagel in 2023 and it came against Jiri Lehecka who was still able to remain patient putting himself in a position to serve for the match but he failed to convert 5 match points in total.
Murray came into this match having spent plenty of time on the court and today was no different. There is no way Murray can win or lose in straight sets though it looked very much possible during the first set. The Brit smashed his opponent in the first set winning it 6-0 as Lehecka struggled to get anything going.
Lehecka opened far better in the second set taking a 3-0 lead early and the match looked in balance once more. He was able to keep that lead and win the second set thanks to his aggressive game that was working now. The serve was setting up points nicely and he was delivering with his really clean ball striking.
The final set was more of the same as Lehecka completely took control into his hands finishing points on his terms. He had a couple of aces and over 20 winners in that set while Murray had less than 10 but it still didn't matter. The Czech player failed to convert two match points at 5-3 and then three more at 5-4 when he was up 40-0 and serving.
Murray battled back and ultimately won in the tiebreak 8-6. A crazy comeback for the final in Doha.
