As the China Open heads towards its conclusion, attention will soon turn towards the
Shanghai Masters which is the next ATP 1000 tournament on the calendar and takes place between October 4 - 15, 2023.
The big omission from this mandatory tournament is Novak Djokovic with the World Number One doing his usual picking and choosing and despite initially being entered will not play in China.
As a result, Carlos Alcaraz takes top billing as the number one seed, with Nuno Borges or Gregoire Barrere up first. Other top seeds are defending champion, Daniil Medvedev albeit one of the longest having one the title back in 2019.
His first danger could come against Sebastian Korda. Holger Rune, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and Taylor Fritz are also among the top eight seeds who take their spot in the
draw.
